Spontaneous weekend trip to Arches

Saturday around noon, Ben says, "Let's go to Moab." Twenty minutes later we were in the car and on our way. We stayed in a little hotel/self-storage (weird) called JR's Desert Inn. After dinner at the Slick Rock Cafe we went for a stroll down a little trail. Look at how green everything was. It was gorgeous.

Here's me walking down the trail in Moab.

We didn't walk long before we came to a bridge, but the river had risen so much it would have been very difficult to cross.

We weren't feeling very adventurous so we turned around and went back to town.
Sunday morning we woke up and headed to Arches National Park. I had never been there before, so I was pretty excited.

Ben hates having his picture taken so I have to sneak them in while he is busy taking pictures of his own. Here he is taking a picture of the Three Gossips.

And, here are the Three Gossips. Ben's a pretty good photographer.
I sneaked another picture of him while he was looking out over the park. It was an amazing view. The park looks good, too :)

Look at the view, and the clouds. Awesome.

Here I am flicking Balancing Rock. It was pretty precarious. I'm sure I could knock it over.
Just kidding. This is how big it really is.
This is Double Arches, which is near Windows.
There is teeny, tiny Ben standing behind the South Window. Isn't he teeny and cute?
This is both of the Windows.

This is Ben standing inside the South Window and looking at the incredible view. Yes, I snuck another picture.

This is me and Ben standing under Delicate Arch... you know, the one most people have on their license plates.

We were walking along to see Landscape Arch and Pine Tree Arch and we were so amazed by how green everything was in the middle of the desert.

Pine Tree Arch gets its name from the pine tree growing in the middle of it. Very creative.

This is Landscape Arch, but I think it should be called delicate because it is so thin. There was a sign nearby that said a whole bunch of rock broke off in 1991. See, it is delicate.
There were signs all over the park warning tourists of the frequent sightings of Big Horn Sheep. We didn't see any live sheep, so we had to settle for a statue at the information center.
