The Dirty Dash

June 2, 2012
I ran The Dirty Dash: 5.5 miles of mud, rope walls, mud, hurdles, mud, monkey bars, mud, hay bales, mud, tubes, tires, mud pits, wooden plank walls, mud, mud, and more mud.
Here I am with some friends before the race. Clean.
Giant slip-n-slide. See the smile on my face? Dirty and fun.
Here we are again, getting near the finish line. Dirty.
Two huge mud pits just before the finish line. D.I.R.T.Y.
Here we are at the finish line. Dirty and happy.
After the race you have the option of donating your shoes. I certainly didn't want them anymore, but I can't imagine who would. Oh, well. Not my problem.
Funnest. Race. Ever. I highly recommend it. In fact, I'm thinking of running it again in September.

Bear Lake

School is out for the summer so Ben and I headed up to Bear Lake for a few days. I've never been there before, so I was pretty excited.

This is our hotel building. The place was more like an apartment complex than a hotel. It had several buildings, each unit was fully inclusive; indoor and outdoor pools; hot tub; tennis courts... everything.
 This is our room.
Full kitchen, washer and dryer, dishwasher...everything!

This is the view from the back patio. Not too bad.
 Here is our back patio.
 Right outside the club house.

This is North Beach. The water was cold, but it was a beautiful day.
This is just one of several light houses we saw while in Bear Lake.
 First day snacks. Mmmm pizza...
Look at the size of this pizza pan! There's no way Ben and I could eat all that.

Nearby there is the Minnetonka Cave, so Ben and I went on a tour.

This is a little bat that lives in the cave. Isn't he cute?
These are the bones from a porcupine, many of which used to live in the cave before it was first explored by humans.
 Thanks for a fun trip.
