1st week of school is OVER!!!

My first week of school is over and I SURVIVED!!! Monday, the first day of school, is the worst. The high school is on a block schedule, which means 8 classes total- 4 classes per day and they rotate: A day, B day. The first day of school, however, the students have all 8 classes. Such an exhausting day.
Tuesday the students can change their schedule as much as they want according to what they thought of their first day 'sampling' of their classes. For 3 hours the teachers sit in an 80 degree gym while the students mill around comparing their schedule to their friend's and then trying to match it. They add and drop classes, completely redoing all the work the counselors did during registration. I really don't know why the administration allows this "Mass Change Day". They try to discourage students from 'teacher shopping', but then let them change their schedules however they want. Whatever. After the 3-hour schedule swap, the kids go to their B day classes for 40 minutes each. What a waste of a day.
Wednesday is the first 'real' day of school. Each class is at it's usual 90 minutes and it is the first opportunity for the students to see how the class is really going to go and for the teachers to actually get things done. Thursday is the same.
Unfortunately, when it seems like the school year is finally starting and we are settling into a routine, Friday comes and they mess up the schedule again for 2 assemblies. Useless assemblies, I might add. Duh.
Anyway, after recovering from stress-induced stomach aches, indigestion and rippin' headaches, Ben took me to the Bohemian for dinner on Friday. Yummy authentic German food. So good...So bad for you.
If I look dead in this picture it's because I nearly was. Barely survived the first week.

Last weekend before BACK TO WORK!!!

This summer has been very nice. I sat around, slept in, read a bunch of books, hung out with hubby, relaxed, watched movies... So nice. Though I am ready to go back to work, I hate to see the summer go.
Saturday before I went back to work Ben and I joined his family at the zoo.
It was nice to spend time with Ben's family. We don't get to see them very often. On the train are Ben's mom-Tami, sister-Michelle, Shelly's hubby-Glade, little Marley, and in the front we have Mia, Tavin, and Ava. Cutest kids ever.

Me and Ben. Isn't he cute? Here's Ben pulling the wagon full of littles.

Mia, Marley, Ava, and Tavin pose by the gorillas.
Not a lot of pics, but still a fun day.
